Art Expo and Weaving Workshop

  • Cadet Hall 25 Fenton Street Stratford, Taranaki Region, 4332 New Zealand (map)

Join us for a fun afternoon celebrating all forms of static and performance art, as well as a weaving workshop.

Static Art: A chance for your students to share their passion with others. Students can display any arts and crafts they have created in 2025 from any medium, including knitting, crochet, weaving, stop motion animation, Lego sculptures, pottery and sculpture, drawing, painting, wood or metal work, mosaics, beadwork and jewellery, sewing… and more!  They can also include projects they’ve done for learning that they’d like to share, like dioramas, poetry, maps, or models.

For our Stratford art students, we will showcase collage, batik art, needle felting and drawing. Some country day projects include Turkish lamps, cathedral windows, Venetian masks, Swedish Dala horses, and clay bird whistles.

Performance Art: If your art medium is of the performance variety, we encourage you to come along and share with us! Music, singing, acting, dance, poetry or monologue recitation are welcome. Get together with a group of friends and put something together to entertain us!

Weaving: Older children can also learn how to weave a flax flower and younger children can enjoy some weaving art.

A wonderful excuse for some creative fun, and an awesome way to create community and form friendships.

Bring a plate for a shared afternoon tea. Social play out in the field afterward, weather-permitting.

An all ages, non-competitive event. Not a drop-off event. Creche for little ones.

Thank you to the Stratford District Council Creative Communities Scheme for their financial support.
